Drawing a Crowd in Barranco, Peru
One afternoon, Trevor and I walked over to the main park in Barranco, the bohemian district of Lima, and started playing some songs in the center area. A few songs in, a Peruvian saxophonist approached and asked to join us. He didn't know any English, but he could follow along and we made it work. After a few people started to take notice of our music, we hit him with this number. Trevor's pipes rang through the park and seemed to transfix everyone walking by. After the song, the crowd cheered for us to keep going, but a police officer hastily stopped us, saying a street performer with a permit had the area reserved. The crowd even followed us afterwards! Quite a proud moment.
